Category A:
Under this category the you can earn the SEU if you,
1. Attend the "Global" or "Regional" Scrum Gathering (Conferences). These gatherings are hosted by Scrum Alliance twice annually. There are couple of Regional events per year
2. Participate in Scrum Alliance user group activity or Scrum Alliance-sponsored event
3. Participate in Scrum Coaching Retreat or CSP Retreat
4. Participate in Scrum Alliance pre-event or post-event workshop
Category B:
Under this category the you can earn the SEU if you attend and participate in one or more of the following sessions.
1. Training conducted by Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) Training, this includes the video training. Note SEUs will not be counted if the trainer isn't CST.
2. Attend approved courses & approved trainers who are part of Registered Education Provider (REP)
3. You were part of the coaching sessions by by a Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC) or by a Certified Team Coach (CTC)

Now you can renew your CSM or CSPO certification without additional cost when you take another Scrum Alliance Certification.
Let’s assume you have CSM certification which is expired or about to expire, If you take up CSPO or Advanced-CSM certification then your CSM certification will be auto renewed for two years without any need for SEUs & free.
If you had CSPO Certification, taking up CSM certification will renew your CSPO certification for two years.
Approximate renewal cost of CSM/CSPO certification Rs. 7,500. (100 USD) When you take the new certification program then you not only learn and move ahead, you basically save Rs. 7,500 that you would have paid for renewal.

Category C:
You can earn SEUs when you participate in one or more of these,
1. Face-to-face training outside of Scrum Alliance, these training could be hosted by your organization as part of regular learning objectives related to Scrum & Agility.
2. Attended live Scrum/Agile events outside of Scrum Alliance, these are conferences hosted by other organizations
3. Attended user group events outside of Scrum Alliance, these are events that are local meetups or events hosted by 12 Principles Consulting
4. Received coaching or mentoring outside of Scrum Alliance
Earn SEUs by volunteering
Scrum Alliance encourage you to give back to the community.
Therefore, SEUs may be earned by providing non-compensated professional Scrum services.
You will be asked to affirm that you were not compensated for your volunteer work by your employer or another party..
Category E:
You can earn SEUs when you participate in one or more of these,
1. Prepared a Scrum presentation (preparation time only, not delivering)
2. Authored a book, article, or blog
3. Watched a Scrum/Agile training video by an instructor other than a Scrum Alliance CST
4. Read a Scrum/Agile book
5. Other independent learning (We invite instances of creative learning that do not fit into other categories)
Category F:
You can earn SEUs when you participate in one or more of these,
1. Co-trained with the objective of learning
2. Received training via live webinar delivered by any trainer other than a CST
3. Other collaborative learning

As you perform the activities that earn you SEUs, start updating them in your profile page and after you finish the required total units, you will be ready to renew your CSM
